Installing Sharepoint 2013 on Windows 2012 R2

During the software prerequisites installation of SharePoint Server 2013 on Windows 2012 R2, you may encounter an issue where the Products Preparation Tool may not progress past "Configuring Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role"

To the solution to this issue is address in KB2765260 and the geez of the solution is as follows

Ensure the server has access to the Internet and open an elevated Windows PowerShell prompt on the SharePoint server (that is, Run as Administrator), and execute the following commands. You need to restart the server after that and continue with the installation

Import-Module ServerManager

Add-WindowsFeature NET-WCF-HTTP-Activation45,NET-WCF-TCP-Activation45,NET-WCF-Pipe-Activation45
